Blower Fan Motor Not Working

I went ahead and replaced the blower motor resistor and cabin air filter but it is still completely dead. If the compressor is running but the fan motor is not running the fan motor or the fan motor capacitor are likely at fault. The most common symptom of a faulty blower motor resistor is a blower fan that only works on one speed usually high. This can be annoying but troubleshooting is easy.

Connect the black lead to a ground and then to the blower motor assembly. If there is a battery check if it is working properly. Connect the red lead to a power source and then to the leads on the motor side of the disconnected connector. If the thermostat does not have continuity replace it.

If you start at the blower motor and check resistance in the circuit you will find the problem in no time. Blower stopped working last thursday it came back on friday after i wiggled the blower motor resistor went back out saturday. If you are getting 24 volts between g and c then you probably have a fan relay problem or sequencer problem. I don t think it is the fuse.

The blower motor is crucial to the proper function and operation of your hvac system. It doesn t work on any speed. If no voltage is recorded you will have to replace the board or the relay. One of the most common problems with furnace fans is a bad blower relay.

You should be able to find this relay or sequencer by tracing the blower motor wires back to the relay or sequencer. Some control the blower fan with a relay. If both the compressor and the fan motor won t run use a multimeter to test the temperature control thermostat for continuity. The first thing to do is check the relay or voltage from the board.

Many hvac related calls are due to the blower motor not working. If the motor still does not turn the motor is bad.
